Terms of Use

These Terms of Use govern every visit to Dutchess County Criminal History. Continuing to browse, read, or use a search feature means you accept the conditions below. If you do not accept them, stop using the website.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website has no connection to a local, state, or federal government body. Neither it nor its advertising partners provides a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other decisions governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The resource directs visitors to criminal-record sources in Dutchess County and New York. It is neither a private-investigation firm nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site, independently operated and unaffiliated with government. It does not store official criminal files, perform authorized background checks, retrieve records, or submit documents on a visitor's behalf.

Its role is to identify the public custodians of Dutchess County records, including the Sheriff's Office, Unified Court System clerks, the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, and the New York State Sex Offender Registry. Some pages also link to independently operated research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

As a condition of access, you agree not to:

  • Use automated scrapers, bots, or similar collection tools against the pages
  • Violate a federal, New York, or local law through use of the website
  • Threaten, stalk, intimidate, or harass any person with information found here
  • Rely on this content for hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decisions
  • Attempt unauthorized access to any system, account, or restricted area
  • Interfere with site performance or another visitor's access

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information obtained here or through a linked service must not be used to threaten, follow, intimidate, harass, or discriminate against anyone. Registry information calls for particular care. The New York State Sex Offender Registry exists to support public safety, not confrontation, private punishment, employment blacklisting, or housing discrimination. Suspected noncompliance should be reported to police or DCJS rather than investigated by a visitor.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not prepare credit reports, background reports, or other consumer reports. The website and its advertising partners are not designed to evaluate applicants, renters, insurance risk, or credit. You may not use this site or a linked tool to:

  • Set insurance terms or assess creditworthiness
  • Make an employment decision
  • Evaluate a rental or housing application
  • Determine eligibility for a government benefit, license, or permit
  • Carry out any other activity regulated by the FCRA

Any lawful regulated screening must use a properly authorized, FCRA-compliant provider and the procedures required for that purpose. This website cannot supply it.

5. No Legal Advice

General information about Dutchess County criminal records is not legal advice. It cannot determine how a warrant, charge, conviction, or record-sealing rule applies to a particular matter. A licensed New York attorney should address those questions.

6. No Warranties

All content and functions are supplied "as is." We make no promise that:

  • A partner's search result will be complete or correctly matched
  • Every item is current, complete, or accurate at all times
  • The website will operate continuously without interruption
  • The pages will be free from technical or security defects

Charges, dispositions, sealing status, and custody records can change. Delays and gaps can occur. No statement here should be treated as an official response from a court, sheriff, police department, DCJS, or other public agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may lead to courts, sheriff and state-agency sites, legal services, and outside search companies. Those destinations operate independently. We do not control their prices, availability, content, results, or data practices, and their own terms apply after a visitor leaves this website.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code on Dutchess County Criminal History belong to the site or its content partners. They may not be copied, changed, distributed, or used to create derivative material without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not responsible for damages arising from use of the website, including reliance on information found here or through an outside service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold us harmless from claims, demands, or proceedings caused by your use of the website or your violation of these terms, including related legal fees and costs.

11. Governing Law

New York law governs these terms. Any dispute connected with use of the website must be brought in a court located in New York. Government record access remains subject to laws such as the New York Freedom of Information Law, while sealed and confidential criminal-history material remains restricted under the applicable Criminal Procedure Law.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be revised. A new version takes effect when it is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be limited or ended at any time, for any reason, without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue in effect. The affected language will be narrowed only as much as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these terms may be directed through the Contact page.
